A SURGERY obsessed model has had permanent implants placed in her eyes to make them ‘cartoon green’. Pixee Fox, 26, hit headlines last year when she had six ribs removed as part of her dream to sculpt the perfect hourglass figure. Now the former electrician - who’d already had 18 cosmetic procedures totalling £80,000 - has spent a further £4,100 on eye implants to further her 'cartoon dream’. The procedure is not widely available for cosmetic use in most Western countries but is often used to correct iris abnormalities. Instead Pixee opted to have it performed by Dr Suraj Munjal at the Spectra Eye Hospital in New Delhi, India. After the operation, which took place in April, Pixee was able to take in some of the sights around New Delhi. However, the ‘body-modification artist’ from near Stockholm, Sweden, ended up becoming the main attraction as hundreds followed her through the streets.

Maoist and Nepal Army fighting at Krishna bhir

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world; most people have never used a telephone, never mind a computer, the staple diet for most of the country is ‘dhal batt’ – rice and/or lentils with maybe some veg – every day, for life. The terrain is a mix of three altitude zones; the Himalayan mountains – the so called ‘roof of the world’, their foothills and valleys, and the southern plains with some rainforest. The Kathmandu valley is the centre of administration, commerce and what industry there is. The country is a mix of 70% Hindu and 20% Buddhist religions (Buddha was born in Lumbini in the south), 4% Muslims who are clustered around the border with India, plus a few more obscure sects. In the Kathmandu valley a synthesis of Hinduism and Buddhism is practiced by the Newars, while in the eastern and western hills, the oldest religious form, Shamanism, still survives. 80% of the population work in agriculture, an estimated 40% live in extreme poverty. Gross national income per head stands at US $240, according to the World Bank. Illiteracy is very high, though diminishing gradually; 35% of men, 70% of women.(1) The industrial working class is clustered around the Kathmandu valley and a few other urban areas; the unions claim several hundred thousand members but the figures are questionable; membership fluctuates considerably due to casualised employment and changing political loyalties. Many workers are non-unionised(2). There is a rigid caste system, but religion doesn’t appear to be significant in party politics, apart from the class/caste aspect. Slavery was officially abolished in the early 1900’s, though a form of neo-slavery continued well into the 1990’s in some more remote rural areas; family debts were inherited by the children and could never realistically be worked off as more debt was added, so were passed on in turn to the next generation as a form of indentured servitude. This is now outlawed, but indentured villagers are still occasionally discovered and rescued from such slavery. Yet these local archaic feudal remnants co-exist alongside a tourist industry that provides internet cafes with global satellite connections.

People always want to make nihilism into the idea that is most convenient for them

People always want to make nihilism into the idea that is most convenient for them: do nothing but what you want to do.They justify this with “but nothing is true, so nothing is real, so there’s no point to anything” and consider this profound. What they left out: they think nothing is true, except themselves. Most human thought tends toward solipsism. We are after all just monkeys that got tossed a bone in the form of higher logic. That’s a mixed burden.Having brains capable of processing logic means that we are forever schizoid, divided between two “modes” of thinking:n other words, we can both think and have animal awareness. We like animal awareness because it is a form of control. No matter what threatens, we have this moment and our own will, and we can do what we want (within limits) and this comforts us. We control us.This is why nihilists identify nihilism as the gateway to all clear thought, including spirituality. It overcomes the solipsism inherent in being a thinking animal which leads us to prefer the thoughts we control to the logic we can only, at best, channel sometimes to do what we need it to.Human solipsism creates a false inherency. We expect the universe to behave like our animal self, where there is an absolute conditioning to all of our thoughts provided by the self and its animal needs. We expect the universe to exert control, and pass on to us absolute, innate, universal and inherent truths, like writing on a wall or the word of a controlling God.More likely, we are projecting our own animal ego and social ego desires onto the universe, expecting it to act like us when we revert into our animal selves. This solipsism — a lack of awareness of everything but the self — occurs when we seek control first, and logic second. It occurs in different frequencies among people. We can discipline ourselves to limit it.

Nepalese government officials are seeking answers as anger grows over the deaths of 13 Nepali guards who worked for the Canadian embassy in Kabul and were shuttled back and forth in one of the most dangerous cities in the world in an unprotected minibus.
The guards died June 20 when a suicide bomber attacked their vehicle, prompting some in Nepal’s government to allege that negligence by Canadian diplomats was to blame for the deaths.
The 13 Nepalese and two Indian guards died in the blast, which blew the windows out of the vehicle and left blood stains on the outside of the bus. Another six Nepali were injured. The Taliban claimed credit for it as an attack “against the forces of aggression” in Afghanistan.
Nepalese diplomats in Ottawa have met with their Canadian counterparts to discuss the attack. “We have conveyed Nepal’s concern to the Government of Canada and sought information on under what circumstances those Nepalese security guards were attacked at a time they were ferried to and from their work at the Canadian diplomatic facilities,” the Embassy of Nepal noted Friday in a statement. “We also requested to ensure the safety and security of Nepalese still working with the Canadian Embassy.”
